Anja oh Anja

On Friday, we were able to get Anja's medicine, Azodyl (RM3 per capsule) and Epakitin (RM24 for 100gm). Meant to slow down the progression of chronic kidney disease, Anja will have to be on these two medication for life. She also got to switch to food meant for renal patient. We are feeding her Royal Canine -Renal Diet.

After getting all the stuff Anja needed, we proceeded to UPM Vet Medical Center. Oh dear.. Anja looks so depressed in there. In fact she looks even more perkier when we sent her in on Wednesday. I expressed this to Dr Chan and she said it was probably because she is upset and traumatised by the whole hospital thing, the IV and the force-feeding. I mean, we force feed her at home too but we do it with love, cooing sweet words as we go along making her as comfortable as possible during the feeding session. I doubt they do that at the hospital.

Anyway, Dr Chan was concerned that Anja has become anemic as well and hopes that with the medicine that we brought her condition would improve.

We didn't get to see Anja today because A got some work to attend to and the visiting hours was too short but I did speak to Dr Chan and according to her, Anja gums are no longer as pale as yesterday. ... soo thank God for the good news. She is still not eating but hopefully that would change when she feels better.

I'm so looking forward to seeing her tomorrow :)

Urea Up*

Just got off the phone from Dr Chan on the blood and urine test. Her levels are up! Way high.. Urea is up to 70 (it was 30 before) and the Creatinine went up from 269 to 500! Initially she said she was going to ward Anja for 2 days which meant she was going to be home tomorrow but since her test was no good, Dr Chan wants her to stay on for the weekend.

The good news is we found the medicine that Dr Chan suggested, Azodyl and Epakitin. We had to search the internet for all the big animal hospital to see if they have the medicine.. so special thanks to GP for giving me her vet's number (though they also did not carry it). I'll put the address below in case anyone is looking for it too ok. Theses medicine are suppose the slow down the progression of chronic kidney disease.

So we will visit Anja again tomorrow after getting the medicine so the doctors there can administer it immediately.

Hospitalised Again!

Oh No! Anja has been hospitalised again.

Mommy and daddy took her to visit Dr Chan earlier today for her checkup and based on the feedback given my mommy, Dr Chan wants to flush her system again. I think that is what doctors do to kidney patient because the toxin stays in the body and that is causing Anja to not want to eat and basically just listless. Dr Chan would also do a blood and urine test to see how Anja is doing.

Get well soon.. We will miss you Anja and mommy looks like she's on appetite suppressants because she stop eating too!

Anja's Not Eating*

Two days at home now and Anja is still not eating her usual portion. When she got back on Wednesday, she slept the whole day. We woke up her for her medicine, gave her food supplement and syringe her with fluid every two hours.

When we were back at the vet hospital, we met another kitty owner whose kitty was also diagnosed with renal failure. She tried goat milk and that seemed to improve her kitty situation. So we looked for goat's milk everywhere on Thursday but couldn't find anywhere. We gave up for the day and went to my MIL's home. We talked to MIL about Anja and our search for goat's milk and you know what? She said she HAS goat's milk!! Yeay for MIL!!!

So now, Anja is being syringe with goat's milk. She's still not eating so that is really worrisome.. She's not really much of eater and now that she is sick.. she's just not eating..

Anja's Progress *

Yeay.. Anja is back :).... however according to Dr Chan and you can see from the test results below, Anja's urea, phosphate and Creatinine levels are on the high end with the Urea level off the charts. She is diagnosed with renal insufficiency.


According to Dr Chan this literally means that Anja has the potential to develop renal failure if these levels are not kept in check over the new few weeks. She's given Anja some vitamins and asked us to get a special food supplement call Epakitin and Azodyl to control the situation. They didn't have it at the hospital so we have to look for it elsewhere which we will ASAP!

She also has another appointment with Doc Chan on 27th May for another blood and urine test.

In the meantime, Anja is resting.. not eating at all and I had to syringe her with water before and after her medicine. I really hope my baby pulls through...

Anja's Coming Home!

I was up to my 6th articles on diet pills reviewed when Dr Chan called this morning. When we visited Anja yesterday, she told us the results from the blood test was not out yet so she would call me yesterday evening. So when I went to bed at around 5pm, I brought my phone with me.

I woke up at 2am this morning, grab my phone and there wasn't even a missed call from her! I was quiet irritated with her but because I was passed out from sleeping anyway.. I did not say anything.

Anyway, according to her, there were still traces of urea in Anja's blood and so they want to put her on the drip another day, today and tomorrow but Anja can be discharged tomorrow at 10am. Yeay!! She did tell me tht Anja got to be on medication and a change of diet is required .. something for her kidney and she would go into details tomorrow when we see her!

We're soo happy!! Our baby is coming back where she belongs :)

Waiting on Anja

I am reading articles online about weight loss pill that works while waiting for Anja's vet to call. It seems that Dr Chan, who is now in charge of Anja's case, is attending the clinic and would call me later. Not too sure what time is later but the suspense is killing me. She looked fine yesterday when we visited her so keeping our fingers crossed that she will be discharged today. Minnie is so missing her :(

We were at the hospital bright and early today to visit Anja. When we first saw her, she was just lying down at the corner of her "ward". The hospital had place some hot water bottle under her to make her all nice and comfy but she still had that " I hate this place" look on her.

When she first saw us, it was like "Hmm.. I'm not talking to you" kinda of look.. lol.. but after hearing our soothing voices, she warmed up and started purring. Then I place the towel that I had A slept on yesterday so that his scent is fresh and she would be comforted. It worked!

Feeding Anja...

She wanted to move towards us but all the tubes from her IV drop stopped her so we patted her instead. I saw her food bowl undisturbed so I brought out food from home and put it under her nose and she immediately licked on it and gobbled it up but she only wanted the ones that I fed her as you can see from the pictures above. lol.. our pampered sleeping beauty. The doctor did say that she was not eating so perhaps it was just the stress and her eating was a sign of relief. Can you see her bandaged arm? Poor baby was so uncomfortable :(

Anja looked alert, albeit bored, but she looked healthy.. so we are hoping it is just a Cystitis like her sister Nina and once the toxins is flushed out of her system, she'll be her own self again. We will be visiting her tomorrow. Here's hoping she feels much better after our visit today :)

Update on Anja

Today was such a rushed day and because of UPM's Vet Hospital strict visiting hours, we didn't get to see Anja. However I did make an appointment to see her later today at 10am.

However I did talk to her vet today and according to Dr Mark, they detected a lump at her abdomen area. After doing the ultrasound, they found that Anja's right kidney is slightly oversized. The normal size is 4cm but her's is 4.6cm. The left kidney is of the right size except is abnormal is shape and a bit rugged on the outside. It should be smooth.

Her white blood cell is normal so that is a good sign. Dr Mark would put Anja on the drip for three days to purge out any toxins in tiny body.. (she only weight 1.5kg now!) and will check for urea content after that that three days. If it is still high, we might be looking at something chronic!!!

OMG!!! Where did I put those Decaslim reviews. I'm eating like mad from all this stress!!

Just a short update on Anja... she's being warded for 5 days at UPM Vet Hospital.

The vet wanted to run some test and put her on the drip. We will be calling later today to find out more.

Mommy is forever trying to dress me up just like Phoebe, Aunt GP's baby, but since I refuse she would always place anything on my head just to show me whose the boss, just like this piece of jewelry . File Me Mommy!

The kitties had a field day yesterday whileI was busy packing. Princess Aggie who was listless all day suddenly felt energized when she saw me with some boxes in hand and the vacuum cleaner in tow.

I had this "in-out" try that I used to put stuff on and before storing that, I wanted to vacuum the stuff first. I emptied it on the floor and she immediately squeeze herself into the lower of the two-tier tray. Soon after Anja joined her on the upper tier!

Me and Azwaj was laughing so hard but she looked like she belonged there. LOL!

You know it's a good thing I don't get adult acne, otherwise this would be the time for that! LOl!
